Chris is Associate Director (Research) at the Institute of Business Ethics (IBE), where he leads on research, advisory services, training and links with higher education. Having previously been a Trustee of the IBE, he joined the staff following an academic career that saw him appointed Professor of Accounting in his mid-30s and later serve a substantial term as a business school dean. He lectured at Aberystwyth, Cardiff, Oxford and Huddersfield. He continues to be an Emeritus Professor at the University of Huddersfield, and he is a Visiting Professor at the University of Leeds (at the Interdisciplinary Ethics Applied Centre) and at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao. Chris has published widely and has been invited to speak to many academic and practitioner audiences. He is particularly well known for his work on business and financial ethics. He edited one of the leading business ethics journals for a decade and was a member of the Ethics Standards Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales for a similar period. Chris holds a BA (First Class Honours) and PhD from the University of Sheffield, an MA (by Special Resolution) from the University of Oxford, an MScEcon from the University of Wales, a DLitt (higher doctorate) from the University of Huddersfield and a Graduate Diploma in Philosophy from the University of York. He is a Corporate Governance Professional (ACG), a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
